The amputee athlete, whose left leg was amputated due to cancer and using a prosthetic leg, entered the Guinness Book of World Records. The 46-year-old athlete was appreciated by the whole world.
In 2002 doctors in the Netherlands diagnosed her with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. They had to amputate her leg to survive. She was angry because she had cancer and was ashamed of being different. She wore long pants in public so that people wouldn’t notice the prosthesis.
“I’m an all or nothing person. I wanted to push the boundaries and see how far I could go”
She started running in 2016. After getting a prosthetic leg suitable for long-distance running, she registered for her first 10 km run. The night before the run she changed her mind and decided to participate in the half-marathon category.

Hunt-Broersma set herself the goal of running the most consecutive marathons in January, and has spent nearly five hours a day running 42km since January. Guinness World as the person who ran 104 Marathons in 104 days, running the most in a row
she earned the right to enter the record books.
Jacky, who ran a total of 4,400 km, collected 88 thousand dollars for an organization that helps amputee runners with the images she shared on social media from her marathons.
“Running has made a huge difference in my mood and showed how strong my body is. It made me accept myself and feel like I can do hard things,” said Hunt-Broersma, a mother of two children who is a resilience coach.
