Johnny Depp has denied all allegations against him. He filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp, who testified, said he never hit Heard.
On the other hand, 35-year-old Heard, who said that she was the real victim, filed a counterclaim and demanded $ 100 million in damages.
Heard’s team described Depp as a abusive husband prone to drunken druggies.
Depp’s team argued that Heard’s allegations of violence were a “hoax” and a “calculated strategy to destroy his reputation”.
The trial so far has focused on Depp’s demeanor and whether he verbally or physically abused Heard. Depp’s lawyers accused actress Heard of putting on the “performance of his life” with allegations of harassment. Heard has yet to testify at the trial.
The jury heard testimony from the couple’s former therapists, who said Depp and Heard “mutually abused” each other, and the nurse hired for Depp’s drug addiction treatment.
Nurse Debbie Lloyd, who also attended the couple’s wedding, testified on Monday that she had witnessed Heard “trying to get into a fight” with her ex-husband several times.
Heard wrote on her social media account about the price women pay for speaking out against powerful men. “I’m still paying that price, but hopefully when this case is over I can get on with my life, and so can Johnny.”
The trial is expected to take at least six- seven weeks. Johnny Depp
