In the city of Bryansk, about 110 km from the Russian border, an explosion took place at the oil facilities. With the effect of the explosion, two major fires broke out at the “Transneft-Drujba” oil pipeline, which carries crude oil to Europe, and the “Transnefteprodukt” diesel filling facilities, where the Russian army is refueling.
While the Russian side did not explain the cause of the fires, there was no statement from Ukraine that there was an attack on Russian oil facilities. About 15 minutes after the first violent explosion at around 02:30 in the morning, the second explosion occurred.
In a public statement made by Russia, it was stated that the fire, which started at night, was brought under control without any loss of life in the morning. The simultaneous start of the fires at two points, 110 kilometers from the Russian border, was attributed to the ongoing war by political and military observers. The explosion is thought to be caused by missiles fired by Ukraine or sabotage by commandos infiltrating the region. Earlier, Russia had threatened to “hit the decision-making centers in Kiev” in case of an attack on its territory.
