Support from pink floyd to ukraine
The world-famous British rock band Pink Floyd entered the studio again after 28 years and recorded their song “Hey Hey Rise Up”, about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian artist Andriy Khlyvyuk accompanied the Band
The song, which is a new version of an old Ukrainian anthem, accompanies the Pink Floyd group with Ukrainian musician Andriy Khlyvyuk. After the invasion that started on February 24, Khlyvyuk ended his US tour and went to Kiev to participate in the defense of the country.
Three days after his arrival in Kiev, Khlyvyuk shared on his Instagram account the anthem he sang “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”, composed in 1914 for the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen military unit that participated in both the First World War and the war of national independence.

Stating that his bride Janina Pedan is Ukrainian, Gilmour told the Guardian newspaper: “Janina’s grandmother was in Kharkov until three weeks ago. She is very old, disabled and confined to a wheelchair. Janina and her family tried to get her out of Ukraine and finally last week, she was in Sweden. Gilmour, who watched Khlyvnyuk’s recording after all these events and said that he found the chords of the anthem, said that it was very difficult to reach the Ukrainian musician. Gilmour tried to reach Khlyvnyuk on Instagram and finally found an e-mail address. .
Gilmour spoke to BBC
Gilmour said in an interview with the Guardian that Khlyvnyuk, who he last spoke to on Tuesday, said, “He went out and collected the bodies of Ukrainian children and said he had a hell of a day.”
Gilmour, in a statement to the BBC, stated that he found “the weakness of the West in the face of the Russian invasion infuriating” and that he supported the imposition of sanctions on Russia.
Here are the lyrics to the song hey hey rise up:
Oh, in the meadow a red viburnum has bent down low
For some reason, our glorious Ukraine is in sorrow
And we’ll take that red viburnum and we will raise it up
And we shall cheer for our glorious Ukraine, hey, hey
And we shall cheer for our glorious Ukraine, hey, hey
(Hey, hey)
Oh, in the meadow a red viburnum has bent down low
For some reason, our glorious Ukraine is in sorrow
And we’ll take that red viburnum and we will raise it up
And we shall cheer for our glorious Ukraine, hey, hey
And we shall cheer for our glorious Ukraine, hey, hey
